Swift Fox is a very petite and agile animal that weighs around 2-3 kg and the colour of their fur varies from golden to yellowish brown.
In the 1930s, Due to Predator Control Program, Swift foxes were extirpated from Canada but later successfully reintroduced in 1983.
Swift foxes are known to move around the grassland at a very high speed (60-65 kmph).
Swift Foxes are endemic to Canada and USA. They prefer vast grassland, prairies, and shrub-steppe region.
Swift Foxes are nocturnal animals and they scavenge the environment by consuming carrions.
Swift foxes are omnivorous. Rabbits, Mice, Birds, Insects, Eggs, Grass and Fruits are very important parts of their diet.
The breeding season of the swift fox is December- February and the female produce 3-6 babies at a time.
Usually, swift foxes live 3-6 years in the wild but in captivity, they can live up to 14 years.
Coyotes, Golden Eagle, Badgers and Bobcats are the main predators of swift foxes.
